The Canary Islands do not only captivate with pleasant temperatures all year round, magnificent landscapes and sunshine galore - this archipelago in the Atlantic is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world, especially for families with children. The islands have a lot to offer for the little ones; numerous water and amusement parks, a variety of activities and fine sandy beaches that slope gently into the water leave nothing to be desired and promise unforgettable experiences - even for adults!
Here are four reasons why the Canary Islands are an absolute holiday paradise!
The islands convince with dreamy beaches
The Canary Islands are home to some beautiful beaches that will amaze children and adults alike and guarantee safe bathing at all times. On Tenerife, the beaches of Las Teresitas, El Camisón, Playa Jardín and La Arena are among the highlights, on Gran Canaria Las Canteras, Maspalomas, San Agustín and Puerto Rico are among the highlights and on Lanzarote Caletón Blanco and Costa de Papagayo are particularly recommended.
On the picturesque island of La Graciosa, visitors enjoy asphalt and car-free roads and have fun on the beach of Caleta de Sebo. Another must-see for family holidaymakers in the Canaries are the famous dunes of Corralejo in the national park of the same name on Fuerteventura. Especially children have great fun in the velvety dunes; in the area you will also find some of the most beautiful beaches of the island.
On La Palma, the fifth largest island in the Canary Islands, the natural pools of La Fajana are well worth a visit, while the beach of La Restinga on El Hierro is a paradise for snorkellers and divers with its calm, crystal-clear waters. Finally, on La Gomera, the picturesque beaches of Vueltas, La Caleta and La Calera are waiting to be discovered.
The water parks promise pure adventure
Of all the magnificent water parks in the Canary Islands, Siam Park in Tenerife is certainly the most impressive. The area of more than 18 hectares is designed in Thai style and is considered the largest water attraction in Europe. In addition, the park has already been crowned as the best water park in the world in the past.

Also on Tenerife is Aqualand Costa Adeje, another extremely popular water park. In addition to spacious pool and slide facilities, the dolphin shows are among the absolute highlights of the facility. Last but not least, Lanzarote also has an excellent water park - at Aquapark Costa Teguise, children have the opportunity to play paintball and let off steam on various playgrounds.

Exciting moments in zoos and aquariums
In addition to numerous water parks, there are also exciting zoos and aquariums to discover in the Canary Islands. The most well-known is probably Loro Parque in Tenerife, with its orca show, unique in the archipelago, the variety of different parrot species and the penguin house, which realistically reproduces the natural habitat of the cute animals.

In the Poema del Mar Aquarium on Gran Canaria, visitors dive into the secrets of the deep sea - the largest glass window in the world provides spectacular insights into this otherwise eternally dark world. In the Palmitos Park, which can also be found on Gran Canaria, the botanical garden is particularly inspiring and the Oasis Wildlife Zoo on Fuerteventura takes guests on an animal adventure with elephants, crocodiles, giraffes and sea lions.

The grandiose nature provides recreation
Last but not least, the Canary Islands have a breathtaking wealth of scenic treasures. Nature on the islands is more diverse and varied than anywhere else. In the Garajonay National Park on La Gomera, for example, visitors young and old can discover the secrets of the trees and plants and find out why the protected area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Who likes to look at the stars, will be happy on La Palma. The island is officially one of the UNESCO-defined light protection areas and promises profound insights into the universe at night. An equally rewarding adventure also awaits off the coast of Tenerife: boats regularly head out to sea from there to observe whales and dolphins in the wild. The majestic creatures leave a lasting impression, not only on animal lovers.
In the Timanfaya National Park on Lanzarote, visitors marvel at the surreal volcanic landscapes that are reminiscent of the surface of Mars and have even served as training grounds for astronauts and space robots. Finally, on Gran Canaria, a hike to the island's landmark, Roque Nublo, is recommended. The easy-to-conquer hiking trail idyllically winds through fragrant pine forests and is a great experience, especially for children. Once at the top, holidaymakers are treated to unparalleled views of the surrounding area, particularly the distinctive Roque Bentayga and the Caldera de Tejeda volcanic crater.
