Apart from the sporting and cultural possibilities, South Tyrol also shows itself from its best culinary side. The mild Mediterranean climate and fertile soil have provided ideal vineyard conditions for centuries. A total of around 20 grape varieties thrive here, including the local varieties Vernatsch and Lagrein. But South Tyrol also grows a wide variety of fruit and vegetables.
