Kitzbühel- The Monaco of the Alps
The most beautiful hotels in the noble ski resort.
20 January 2021
At the moment, the pandemic is making it a little more difficult to generate enthusiasm for otherwise normal winter activities like skiing, world-famous ski races and the posh resort of Kitzbühel to bring up. And yet, we can neatly crank up our mental cinema with impressions from the Hahnenkamm area and create the luxury flair for ourselves that we are perhaps currently lacking a little.
Kitzbühel is a place like no other. An eternally thriving society meeting place for networking, but also a cosy provincial town for switching off. In addition to sporting dedication on the mountain, you can prove your sense of style and quality while shopping here: International brands and traditional craftsmanship can be found in abundance in the Gamsstadt.
The sporty "Monaco of the Alps
Kitzbühel impresses with 233 kilometres of the best downhill slopes, numerous cross-country ski trails and idyllic winter hiking trails. Nevertheless, the ski area owes its enormous popularity to the notorious Streif. The Hahnenkamm race, the spectacular downhill run from Kitzbühel's local mountain, gathers the world's best skiers and their fans every January and has helped Toni Sailer, Anderl Molterer, Karl Schranz or Franz Klammer to world fame.

Best of Kitzbühel: These are the best addresses in the noble resort
In addition to the exclusive hotels, the posh resort also has other first-class addresses that you should not miss. From a goldsmith's shop to a Japanese restaurant that leaves nothing to be desired, Kitzbühel has always been a delight for its guests.
Best shops
Fine thread: For over 50 years, the tailor Franz Prader has stood for quality. He creates fashion that underlines the personality of his customers. Exact fit as well as precise workmanship make the big difference to an off-the-peg garment.
Golden meticulousness: At the age of 20, Margarete Klingler became Tyrol's youngest master goldsmith and founded the Margarete Klingler goldsmith's shop in her birthplace in Kitzbühel in 1993. Since 2006 she has been making the Gold-Kitz, a precious piece of jewellery with which Kitzbühel lovers show their attachment to the Gamsstadt.
Stylish design: With her own label Sabine Sommeregger is represented in her studio in Kitzbühel as well as in selected shops. Her love belongs first and foremost to pure new wool whale, which is sustainably produced in North and South Tyrol. With this natural product she creates a refined simplicity that keeps you warm.
Best restaurants
Big in Japan: Izakayas are Japanese pubs or tapas bars and "Zuma" is one of the best. Fans enjoy the visually appealing dishes on Mykonos, in London, Rome, Miami and now also in Kitzbühel at the "Weißes Rössl". Founded in London in 2002 by renowned German chef Rainer Becker together with Arjun Waney, "Zuma" has earned an excellent reputation as a Japanese restaurant with locations in major cities around the world. The culinary experience consists of three components: the main kitchen with a selection of contemporary dishes, the sushi bar and the Robata, a Japanese charcoal grill. Be sure to book in advance!
No slouch: "Mocking - Das Wirtshaus" convinces on a high level. Chef Martin Huber refines classics of Austrian cuisine with fresh, seasonal and original ideas. The best down-to-earth cuisine, a fine ambience, courteous staff, not fancy, in short: one of the highlights in Kitzbühel. The guests have come to stay. Currently, the Grammelknödel and Kaiserschmarren are celebrated as a small sensation.
