Five reasons to discover the Balearic Islands in autumn

In the Balearic Islands, away from the hustle and bustle, autumn offers a special view of the archipelago.

21 September 2021

The Balearic Islands are unjustly underestimated as an autumn destination. Because the low season allows completely new views on the Spanish archipelago, that otherwise remain hidden. If you're still looking for a destination with warm nights for autumn, here are five reasons why October is the best month to explore the Balearics.

1. pristine beaches in the Balearic Islands

The most sought-after white sand beaches, such as Cala S'Amarador, Cala Turqueta and Plaja des Ses Illets, are beautiful but correspondingly crowded during the high season. In autumn, visitors experience the most beautiful beaches and bays of the Balearic Islands in their almost untouched form. October days with temperatures around 25 degrees are also ideal for beach visits. The turquoise water, heated by the summer months, is still pleasantly warm. Especially romantic are the colorful sunsets - a very special experience for couples and singles.

2. exclusive restaurant visits without reservation

The Balearic Islands have a variety of popular and exclusive restaurants. Both exotic specialities and local culinary experiences such as the traditional 'espetada' are a treat for the palate. However, in high season it is almost impossible to get a table in the in locations without booking well in advance. Autumn holidaymakers, on the other hand, can relax and visit the most sought-after restaurants on the islands, such as the Sea Club of the luxury hotel Cap Rocat in Mallorca.

3. Wine season in the Balearic Islands

Lovers of fine wines definitely get their money's worth in the Balearic Islands this autumn. September sees the annual grape harvest in Mallorca and Menorca, and from October a new batch of Mallorcan and Menorcan wines is waiting to be tasted. Perfect for wine lovers is the Hotel Torralbenc, a converted farmhouse in traditional finca style in the midst of its own vineyards. The hotel invites its guests to taste wines from the hotel's own estate "Bodegas Torralbenc", either in the restaurant or directly among the vines.

4. luxury holiday for budget travellers

In autumn, not only the leaves fall, but also the prices of the most exclusive hotels on the Balearic Islands. Holidaymakers therefore have the chance to enjoy a luxury trip without breaking their budget. For example, those who have long dreamed of a stay in the 5 star Hotel Cap Rocat in Mallorca can now treat themselves and experience the award-winning fine dining restaurant and iconic spa in the heart of an ancient fortress first hand.

5. perfect weather for active holidaymakers

Any local would tell you that autumn is the best time of year to explore the Balearic Islands. Temperatures are still warm, but a light breeze makes for perfect conditions for sporting activities. From hiking to the Faro de la Mola lighthouse on Formentera, to cycling on Mallorca, to horseback riding through the Menorcan vineyards - there's plenty to discover!
