For travellers in late autumn and winter, this means romantic walks on empty beaches, exploring the mudflats or wild nature and recharging your batteries. Here you can leave the stress of everyday life behind and find peace in the relaxing atmosphere.

Pleasant walks in the fresh air
If you want to let your soul dangle in nature, Sylt is just the right place. The diversity of the landscape offers numerous opportunities to stretch your legs in complete silence and let your thoughts run free. On Sylt's east coast lies the Braderuper Heath, which nature lovers definitely shouldn't miss. In the large nature reserve, the so-called broom heath blooms from late summer to autumn and forms a beautiful heath carpet of pink, violet and purple colours. A walk around the Hörnum Odde is also not to be missed during a visit to Sylt. The southern tip is getting smaller and smaller year after year, as the heavy storms erode the sand more and more. If you start from Hörnum harbour, you will not only see the extensive dunes, the beach and the lighthouse on your walk, but you will also have the opportunity to spot one or two seals in the harbour basin.

Although Sylt is generally considered rather flat, the island offers some beautiful spots with great views over the region. One of them is located at a height of about 52.5 meters on the Uwe dune. Once you have climbed the 109 steps to the top of the dune, you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful views of Sylt, with the island literally lying at your feet. For those who enjoy exercise, the 20-kilometre round hike at the northernmost point of Germany is a good choice: at Sylt's elbow. For many, the area, which looks like a bent arm and convinces with an impressive natural landscape of dunes, heath and beach, is considered the most beautiful of the entire island.

Shopping stroll through the pedestrian zones
In addition to its breathtaking landscape, flora and fauna, holidaymakers in Sylt can also shop and go out extensively. Not for nothing is the island also considered the most exclusive of the North Frisian islands. In Westerland, old-established shops are lined up with exclusive designer boutiques and fashion chains, and in between there are always nice bookshops, perfumeries or souvenir shops. While strolling through the pedestrian zone, the smell of the fish restaurants and fresh Leysiffer waffles is omnipresent and conjures up a special flair. In the evening, Kampen's promenade Strönwai invites you to linger, where you will find several bars and the legendary Whisky Mile and where there is always a lot going on.
