WILD AT HEART: AFRICAN HONEYMOON
Enjoy romantic togetherness.
8 February 2021
The African continent offers fascinating landscapes, wild animals and warm people - the perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway. Time to spend. The nature conservation organization Great Plains specialises in bespoke celebrations in Kenya's most idyllic locations.
Unforgettable moments in Kenya
"Africa is still one of the top destinations for honeymoons, weddings and special celebrations because camps like Great Plains' combine adventure with luxurious seclusion," says Dereck Joubert CEO and co-founder of Great Plains. His team helps guests spend unforgettable moments in the African bush - whether it's a private honeymoon for two or renewing vows outdoors with views of Mount Kilimanjaro among family and friends. The Great Plains ol Donyo Lodge, Mara Plains and that Mara Nyika Camp are extraordinary, romantic places to honor a couple's once-in-a-lifetime occasions under the African sky.
Camp offer from Great Plains
At ol Donyo Lodge, for example, guests can celebrate their special day in true Kenyan tradition with a traditional Maasai blessing. This intimate ceremony takes place in front of a gathering of Maasai men, women and warriors, all wearing their finest beadwork, followed by celebratory leaps in the air and traditional songs. The camps can also be hired exclusively! For weddings, you can enjoy a feast of exquisite food and chilled champagne late into the night. The chefs, from Mara Plains under the direction of Chef Benjamin Maritim, are available to serve custom menus for the big day, or are happy to suggest menus and dishes to brides and grooms with tastings. In a bed of stars, accompanied by the purr of elephants, you can drift off contentedly to sleep and recharge your batteries to start the next morning with a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the picturesque Maasai Mara. The offer is as diverse as love itself.
