Dubai: This Year's Hotspot for Foodies

The third edition of the Michelin Guide Dubai awards 106 Michelin-starred restaurants. That's 20 percent more than last year!

July 22, 2024

Word has gotten around that you can eat incredibly well in Dubai. You don't necessarily need the Michelin Guide for that. And yet it dedicated its first edition to the emirate three years ago and enters its third round in 2024. Even more Michelin star restaurants have been discovered in Dubai.

The whole world as a guest

It's above all the variety of cuisines that foodies in Dubai appreciate so much. This is now also reflected in the new Michelin Guide Dubai. The anonymous test eaters awarded their coveted awards to a total of 106 restaurants. These are 35 different cuisines from all over the world. The latest Dubai Gastronomy Industry Report places the desert city in second place worldwide in terms of restaurant density behind Paris. This makes Dubai one of the Top 10 destinations for gourmets.

The other three are Il Ristorante-Niko Romito, STAY by Yannick Alléno and Trèsind Studio. Completely new additions are La Dame de Pic Dubai, Orfali Bros, Smoked Room and Sagetsu by Tetsuya with one star. Boca, LOWE and Teible were delighted to receive a green star.

The Special Awards 2024 were also eagerly awaited. In the Young Chef Award category, Jesus Lobato Suarez, Head Chef at the Smoked Room, was delighted to receive a recognition. The Sommelier Award went to Michael Mpofu (Celebrities by Mauro Colagreco) and the Service Award to Duang Dy by BO.LAN. The Michelin testers chose The Guild as New Opening of the Year.

Foodie heaven Dubai

Michelin star restaurants in Dubai are one thing. But by no means everything. Apart from that, Dubai has a lot to offer gourmets and gourmands. You can see the emirate's development as a globally recognized gastronomy hub by a number of awards, accolades and initiatives, including being named the world's number one tourist destination three times and hosting the annual Dubai Food Festival, which took place for the eleventh time this year.
