Qatar Airways is "Airline of the Year" for the eighth time
Qatar Airways is one of the big winners of the Skytrax Awards 2024, because in addition to "Airline of the Year", other top-class awards came in as well.

They are regarded as the "Oscars of the aviation industry": the Skytrax Awards, which are presented once a year by the British management consultancy of the same name. However, the winners aren't chosen by a jury of experts. Instead, passengers are invited to submit ratings for cabin crew, airports, lounges, in-flight catering and much more on the company's website. One rating per IP address is possible in each category. Those airlines that particularly stand out receive one of the coveted awards.
Top class Airline of the Year
The "Airline of the Year" award is particularly coveted. This year, Qatar Airways won this award for the eighth time since 2011. However, this is by no means the only award that the airline was able to claim for itself. Qatar Airways also won in the categories "World's Best Business Class", "World's Best Business Class Airline Lounge" and "Best Airline in the Middle East". The Awards for the best airports in the world also took place earlier. These were won by Hamad International Airport, the home airport of Qatar Airways.

2: Singapore Airlines

It was reportedly a neck-and-neck race between Singapore Airlines and Qatar, with the latter ultimately coming out on top. This put Singapore Airlines in second place, after coming first last year. According to Skytrax, it was the closest result in the 25-year history of the awards. More than 21 million passengers from 100 countries voted. Around 350 airlines received ratings from them.
3: Emirates
Also making it onto the podium was Emirates. The Dubai-based airline made up one place compared to last year in the Skytrax Awards 2024. The remaining ten places were taken by ANA All Nippon Airways from Japan, Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, EVA Air from Taiwan, Air France and Swiss International. It's remarkable that European airlines only made it to ninth and tenth place, while there's not a single American airline in the top ten.
Emirates
The American Virgin Atlantic is only in 17th place. However, this still puts it ahead of Lufthansa, which has to settle for 18th place in the "Best Airline" category at the Skytrax Awards 2024. And the last place in the ranking? That goes to FlyArystan, a low-cost airline from Kazakhstan, which has only been operating since 2019 and has a fleet of 19 aircraft.
