Qatar Airways goes Metaverse
Qatar's airline takes off into the metaverse with "QVerse" and the world's first meta-human cabin crew.
April 25, 2022
The award-winning airline Qatar Airways is now inviting its passengers on a trip to the Metaverse. In the future, users of the airline's own QVerse website will also be able to take a virtual trip.
Sama is ready
Passengers will experience the premium check-in area at Hamad International Airport (HIA) and the cabins of Qatar Airways' aircraft - including, of course, the award-winning Business Class QSuite - now also virtually. They are assisted by digital cabin crew. These "MetaHumans" are designed to provide an interactive customer experience.
"At a time when physical boundaries are being challenged on an ever-increasing scale by the metaverse, it's exciting to introduce technology that allows all travel enthusiasts to experience our award-winning products and services in a unique way."
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker.
With the introduction of the first MetaHuman cabin crew, the airline once again demonstrates its relentless drive for innovation. The new experience was implemented using Unreal Enginge from Epic Games, the world's most advanced real-time 3D creation tool. Also involved: MetaHuman Creator, a cloud-based app. For customers, the benefits are clear. They can get an overview in advance, virtually explore the cabin and contact the cabin crew. First and foremost with "Sama." The true-to-life 3-D human model interacts with the user. And all this without having to leave their own living room. A truly unique offering.
Take off - with the "Airline of the Year"
The move into the metaverse is another step towards the future and even higher customer satisfaction. And this despite the fact that Qatar Airways is already one of the most highly decorated airlines in the world. For example, the international aviation rating organization Skytrax has already named it "Airline of the Year" several times . Many other awards and top scores from satisfied passengers adorn Qatar's state-owned airline.
