The Small Luxury Hotels of the World are known for their enchanting, small hotels with outstanding service and wonderful amenities. The Arima in San Sebastián, Spain, is no exception. Located in the Miramón forest, its excellent restaurant, the Misura, has long been the focus of gushing reviews. It also made headlines for being the first hotel in Spain, and the largest in Europe, to receive passive-house certification for its energy concept. Now it has a new spa that has taken the hearts of critics by storm. It underlines the hotel's connection to nature and its commitment to sustainability.

Live Green, love Green

The slogan that accompanied and lived by the owner family for a long time was, among other things, the inspiration behind the family project that became the Arima. To this day, the hotel is always looking for new ways to integrate nature, reduce its ecological footprint and become more sustainable. This includes cladding the entire wooden façade of the hotel with aluminum. This reflects sunlight, keeping the interior naturally cool. The terraces are part of the surrounding forest and the lungs of the building. Clean energy sources, such as geothermal and air heat, supply the hotel with everything it needs. The measures are comprehensive and extend into the new spa.

Surrounded by impressive trees, it is the perfect place to reconnect with your inner self and nature. Peace, tranquillity and silence envelop the guest and are part of the individual and tailor-made wellness treatments. These include massages and rituals as well as water treatments created especially for the new spa - which goes by the name of Foresta Wellness. The facilities include swimming pools with different water temperatures, a salt therapy room, two infrared saunas and seven treatment rooms with single and double bathtubs. Guests can experience special moments in the yoga room and the relaxation area. Thanks to their floor-to-ceiling windows, the boundaries between indoors and outdoors blur. One has the feeling of relaxing in the forest. The workout in the modern gym also takes place against the impressive backdrop.
