March 22, 2022
andBeyond invites travelers to the world's most beautiful natural retreats - now also back to Tanzania. After the Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp was flooded by the Grumeti in 2020, andBeyond went back to the easel. With the Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, a new, modernized, exclusive glamping highlight has now been created in the savannah. The luxurious lodge in the middle of Africa's "endless plain" opens on June 06, 2022.

Glamping in the design lodge
Even more exclusive and sustainable - renovated with local building materials - the andBeyond Design Lodge on the Grumeti River is a luxurious reinterpretation of the traditional safari tent. Jack Alexander is responsible for the out-of-Africa style design, which balances rustic elements with shapely elegance. The architect teamed up with South African designer duo Fox Browne Creative to create a bright, open lodge with ten suites as well as a restaurant, kiddies club, gym, lounge, and bar, whose design is based on the manyattas, the circular huts of the Maasai.

Strolling inside from the expansive outdoor terraces with their private pools, guests are greeted by chic interiors, natural materials and unique views of the Grumeti. The absolute highlight of the new andBeyond Lodge: the open-plan design of the Safari Lodge allows you to experience the surrounding nature reserve up close. For example, hippos sunbathe right in front of the bar: The hippo family spends time, on certain weeks, on the shore of the andBeyond Camp.

Culinary orientation is based on uncomplicated recipes made from fresh, local ingredients. Especially great for sleepyheads: Every morning, the lodge breakfast tray with freshly squeezed juices and fragrant bread beckons you from your comfortable bed. In the evening, dine in the traditional boma, where baked salt-crusted fish or fine pizzas are served. And for the Sundowner you meet in the lounge with a view of the Serengeti - Cheers!
Glamping - but sustainable
It is well known that andBeyond attaches great importance to the protection of regional culture and surrounding nature reserves. The choice of materials at Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge was therefore also based on local, sustainable woods. In the spirit of non-intrusive architecture, a steel frame holds up the structure of the lodge. This provides stability - and reduces the burden on the environment, as heavy concrete foundations can be dispensed with.

andBeyond has also increased energy efficiency for the new design lodge: in addition to state-of-the-art water processing systems, a proprietary 130-kWh solar system runs the lodge on 80 percent renewable energy.

The Big Five: On Safari in the Serengeti
Adventure-seekers will certainly get their money's worth in Tanzania's newest glamping hotspot. The Grumeti Game Reserve and the Serengeti National Park, two extensive Tanzanian wildlife reserves, are right outside the doors of the design lodge. andBeyond takes its lodge guests on a twice-daily Safari to the region. Let's go to the Big Five!

Anyone who ventures into the bush and onto the riverbanks here will be amazed at the diversity of flora and fauna. The area is a well-known migration corridor, with numerous herds of wildebeest and zebra crossing the land between June and July. At the river, black and white colobus monkeys shimmy from branch to branch, while in the river hippos and gigantic crocodiles occasionally stick their heads above water. A real experience.
