Motel One's First: Budget hotel goes USA
Fans of the budget design hotel chain can rejoice: Motel One will soon open its first branch in the USA. The hotel will move into the former Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Manhattan.

Since the entrepreneurial couple Ursula Schelle-Müller and Dieter Müller opened their first budget design hotel in Offenbach, Germany, in 2000, the brand has enjoyed great popularity. In the past 20 years, the group has grown to more than 75 hotels and over 21,000 rooms across Europe. One reason for the great popularity is definitely the concept. With the motto "Like the price. Love the Design." Motel One shows that attractive prices, good locations and well thought-out design are not mutually exclusive. Now, for fans of the chain, the iconic turquoise "Egg Chair" is a dream come true. Soon there will also be an American branch with the first Motel One USA.
Motel One comes to New York
And the first home of the design budget hotel brand won't be just anywhere. On the contrary, the first Motel One USA will open in the Big Apple, in downtown Manhattan to be exact. It is moving into the immediate vicinity of the World Trade Center complex. In the future, it will be located in the former premises of the Courtyard Marriott. Modernization and rebranding will take place in the next few weeks, and the lease will initially run for 20 years. Motel One had last opened its house in Hamburg-Fleetinsel. A total of 441 rooms, some with balconies and roof terraces, are available to budget-conscious travelers in the Hanseatic city.
It is not yet known when exactly the Motel One New York in Downtown Manhattan will open. What is certain is that the color palette familiar from the European branches will remain the same at the first Motel One in America. The iconic Egg Chair, an extensive breakfast buffet, a lobby with space for digital nomads to work and an uncomplicated atmosphere will also be here. And most likely, the rooftop terrace will continue to be the centerpiece of the building.
