Lufthansa offers "Sleeper's Row" on long-haul flights in Economy Class
Offers start in summer 2021!
17 June 2021
Lufthansa is bracing itself for the upcoming summer season. As the airline anticipates a major rush to faraway destinations, there is now a new offer for all travellers in Economy Class. Starting in summer 2021, passengers can book the so-called "Sleeper's Row", where they can rest and maybe even get some sleep on long-haul flights.
"Sleeper's Row" is designed to provide comfort
Who can't relate: when on a long-haul flight in economy class, you, at some point, don't really know where to put your feet. No position is comfortable for your back. You can't rest or sleep and usually, you are glad when the machine begins with the landing approach. Lufthansa wants to offer all Economy Class passengers something new and is introducing the so-called "Sleeper's Row" in summer 2021. The row consists of three seats and can be converted into a bed. Passengers who book the Sleeper's Row will receive a thin mattress, a cushion and a warm blanket.
The "Sleeper's Row" surcharge is 169 euros, as the airline informs on request. The Sleeper's Row has already been tested on several 11-hour flights to São Paulo. For this, the price of the flight ticket and the surcharge for the Sleeper's Row totalled 260 euros. On these flights, however, the offer could not be booked in advance, but only at check-in, since only at this time it was determined how busy the plane would be.
No new concept
The concept of a sofa bed already existed with other airlines like Air Zealand. However, the offer did not really catch on at the time. Lufthansa nevertheless dared to give it a try and found that both passengers and the company were convinced by it. For the airline, the sleep offer is also an additional source of revenue. This is because the offer only applies to seats that would have been free anyway.
