Frances encourages inbound travel with eased corona restrictions
PCR tests are not necessary for entering the country!
23 June 2021
France is easing the corona restrictions to grant travellers entry. One reason for the eased measures is to boost tourism. Travellers no longer need to present a PCR test; an antigen test not older than 72 hours is sufficient for entry.
Relaxed measures
Those who are fully vaccinated can enter France without any problems. For all other holidaymakers, traveling is bound to get easier again. From now on, anyone crossing the border no longer needs a negative PCR test. An antigen test, not older than 72 hours, is also valid as proof that one is virus-free.
In the country itself, normality is slowly returning. Previously, only restaurants with outdoor seating were allowed to reopen. From now on, all restaurants are allowed to open at 50 percent capacity. The evening curfew has also been shifted from 21:00 to 23:00.
The situation is slowly easing
In addition to restaurants and other venues, swimming pools, gyms, cinemas, and theatres are open again. Large-scale outdoor cultural events are also allowed again. Attending a concert or festival in France is now possible and something travellers can look forward to.
The eased measures are a direct result of dropping infections and the relaxed situation in intensive care units. In addition, France is no longer considered a (high-)risk area, and the status of vaccinated citizens is progressing.
