Live: How Peter Burchia combines art and pleasure at the Hotel Muchele

A unique art project: the artist from Bolzano creates a live sgraffito mural and turns the boutique hotel in South Tyrol into a temporary studio.

November 22, 2024

In the picturesque Burgstall near Merano, the Boutique Hotel Muchele The hotel will be the stage for an extraordinary symbiosis of art and cuisine during the week from November 17 to 23, 2024. Bolzano-born artist Peter Burchia brought his unique signature to the design hotel - live and on an impressive scale.

During this week, Burchia transformed a 20 square meter wall in the hotel's restaurant into an artistic sgraffito mural. The special thing about it: The creative process took place in front of the guests. Without any preparatory sketches and with impressive spontaneity, the artist gave free rein to his creativity. The result is a work that not only enriches the aesthetics of the hotel, but also captures the moment and the atmosphere of the hotel.

"My aim is to make the creation of my art tangible," explains Burchia. "The hotel becomes my studio for a week, and the guests are part of this creative process." This direct access to his work makes the project a unique experience - for art lovers, design enthusiasts and anyone who wants to be inspired by Burchia's positive energy.

A dialog between art, space and guests

Known for his experimental and abstract art, Peter Burchia works with plaster and paint, always improvising and being guided by his surroundings. During his stay at the Muchele, the artist lived in the hotel in order to feel the atmosphere of the house and incorporate it into his work. The Ganthaler host family sees this as a return to the roots of the South Tyrolean art tradition:

"Our grandfather was a pioneer in the hotel industry and a great lover of art. It was important to him to promote artists and give them space," says Martina Ganthaler, hostess of the hotel. "With Peter, we are continuing this tradition and showing how closely art and hospitality can be linked."

Art and pleasure - a harmonious combination

In addition to the impressive art exhibition, the Hotel Muchele offers numerous delights for the eyes and palate. Head chef Patrick Holzner surprises with creative South Tyrolean cuisine, which is often prepared right in front of the guests, while nine qualified sommeliers find the perfect wine accompaniment.

The experience is complemented by the new porphyry infinity pool and the spa with fitness orangery, which ensure relaxation and recreation. The Muchele is not only a place for aesthetes and gourmets, but also a creative space that sets new standards for the combination of art, design and cuisine.

With Burchia's live art performance, this week at the Hotel Muchele became a tribute to the South Tyrolean art scene and at the same time an inspiring example of how hospitality and art can enrich each other.
