With the opening of Janu Tokyo, you can now enjoy a wellness temple, including two spas and the largest gym in Tokyo.

March 18, 2024

Aman and its luxurious hotels have been known around the world for more than 35 years. Four years ago, the sister brand Janu was founded as an addition to the Aman portfolio. Derived from the Sanskrit word for soul, it's intended to promote connection, balance and collective joy. It's now celebrating its debut with the opening of Janu Tokyo. 12 further projects are in the works.

Urban oasis

Janu Tokyo is located in the Azabudai Hills, a modern urban development with a focus on nature, lots of open spaces and greenery as well as attractive retail and residential facilities. Everything you need for a fulfilling and healthy life has been created on around eight hectares of land. This makes the location predestined for Janu Tokyo.

Guests can look forward to 122 rooms and suites. They can indulge themselves in eight dining options as well as in the 4,000 square meter spa and wellness center. The latter extends over four floors and has one of the largest fitness studios in Tokyo. There are five exercise studios where you can get in touch with others while spinning, doing yoga or boxing. You can also explore hydrotherapy and a thermal area.

Further highlights in Janu Tokyo

In the heated lounge pool, you can simply be carefree and enjoy yourself, while sports enthusiasts can swim their laps in the 25-metre indoor pool. Mindfulness courses and modern, action-based sessions provide variety between wellness treatments and group courses.

Because food is known to unite people just as much as working out together, you'll find eight restaurants in the hotel. They bring both European and Asian influences to the plates, always interpreted in a modern way, of course. Janu Mercato, for example, serves Italian cuisine, while the beautiful Janu Patisserie serves sweet delicacies. Igura focuses on the sushi tradition, while Sumi offers Omakase dinner experiences. Cantonese and grill cuisine are not neglected either.

Visual pampering program

Even the visual design of the dishes is not left to chance here. All rooms - as well as all suites - have beautiful designs. Jean Michel Gathy of Denniston was responsible for the interior design. The building itself was designed by the visionary architects Pelli Clarke & Partners. The focus is on Japanese minimalism and symmetry. The Janu Suite is considered a masterpiece, measuring 284 square meters in size alone. However, it can be extended to 519 square meters. This makes it one of the largest suites in Tokyo. The Janu Tokyio itself is the only hotel in the Azabudai Hills to date.

Almost all suites have a private balcony, offering a view of the Tokyo skyline. Corner and Tower View Suites have panoramic views in two directions. Rain showers and walk-in closets complete the elegant designs. "The strategic decision to open Janu reflects our commitment to evolve with the desires of today's travelers, especially with the descendants of Aman guests, the aspiring Amanjunkies in search of experiences and authentic human connections. Janu Tokyo promises to be the epicenter of this transformative movement, welcoming a new breed of guests," said Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group.
