Today's Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc can look back on a particularly long history. It was opened as early as 1863 under the name Villa Soleil as a private residence. Completed under the founder of the daily newspaper Le Figaro, it was a refuge and retreat for journalists and writers. In 1870, it was transformed into a hotel. Around the turn of the century, more and more members of high society came to stay. Ernest Hemingway, Wallis Simpson and Pablo Picasso were just a few of them. Since 2012, the mondane hotel, to which both Johannes Mario Simmel and F. Scott Fitzgerald have set literary monuments, has been a member of the noble Oetker Collection.

Of course, things have always changed over the years. The hotel on the Côte d'Azur has always been one that has kept its finger on the pulse. Last year, 46 of the suites were renovated. The renovation program continues this year. A further 34 renovated and redecorated suites and rooms were unveiled at the start of the new season.

These are Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc suites in the main building and in the Residence Les Deux Fontaines. Bergit Countess Douglas was responsible for the redesign. She breathed new aesthetics into the rooms, including the use of elegant wallpaper from Pierre Frey and Manuel Canovas. Toiles de Jouy motifs, for example, ensure timeless elegance.
Art and elegance
The walls are adorned with contemporary unique pieces. Marie-Catherine Douglas from Douglas Art Consultancy selected works by Stéphanie Couturier, Salvo, Vivian Greven and David Shrigley. In this way, each room gets a very individual character. It reflects the colorful Côte d'Azur as well as the elegance of the hotel. There's also plenty to marvel at in the central hall of the main building. Here you can admire two paintings by the artist Landon Metz.

But you can also admire original ornaments from the original hotel here. For example, antique chandeliers, Louis XV furniture, high ceilings and decorative moldings. In the suites of the historic part of the building, guests will in future use mahogany and bronze furniture from Maison Tallarda. In the adjoining Les Deux Fontaines residence, 11 double rooms have been redesigned. They now shine in cheerful pastel shades. They reflect the carefree lifestyle on the coast in a unique way. The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc is therefore starting the new season elegantly and luxuriously, yet with plenty of comfort and coziness.
