"This year marks an incredible milestone for Sandals Resorts, and it is of special significance that we take this moment to honor what my father created and continue his valuable legacy in the Caribbean," said Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of SRI. "Since the opening of the flagship Sandals Montego Bay in 1981, we continued to expand and lead the field of all-inclusive resorts. More than that, we have proven that some of the most exciting and sustainable innovations in the hospitality industry are created in the Caribbean. I am proud to celebrate this milestone for our company along with our Sandals family as we look ahead to the next 40 years of inspired Caribbean vision and innovation."

New training facility planned

In honor of Sandals' late founder, the resort announces the construction of the Gordon "Butch" Stewart International School of Hospitality and Tourism. The school will be located at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and operated in partnership with Florida International University's (FIU) Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. FIU is a leader in tourism education and will partner with UWI to educate the next generation of leaders in international tourism and hospitality through fully accredited bachelor's and master's programs.

Projects for the benefit of Caribbean communities

The idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been an integral part of the company since its inception four decades ago. "The connection between tourism and the well-being of the local Caribbean communities in which we operate is unmistakable," said Adam Stewart. In honor of the company's 40th anniversary, Sandals Resorts International is partnering with the Sandals Foundation to select forty projects that best exemplify the strong connection between tourism - the region's most influential industry - and its power to transform Caribbean communities and improve lives. The Sandals Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 to improve the lives of people in the Caribbean.

What awaits guests

Of course, the resort also wants to thank its loyal and future guests. For this, there are numerous surprises planned for the coming months. The luxury house does not want to reveal too much yet. But one thing is certain. There will be some events! After all, it's not every day you turn 40. Like weekly pool parties, to commemorate 40 years of pleasure. While guests enjoy the sun, the past meets the future - with live DJs playing inspiring music and bartenders serving classic craft cocktails.
