The desert lives

Travelers are currently anxiously looking to Saudi Arabia. Because around the fascinating desert region of al-Ula, a multitude of tourist offers are currently being created. The 22,000-square-kilometer region was once an important trading hub on the ancient Incense Route. Today, the over 7,000-year-old burial sites and remains of the ancient city of Hegra are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the middle of it all lies the lush green oasis of AlUla. Here, some 1,100 kilometers from the capital Riyadh, the Habitas AlUla recently opened.

Adventure in the desert

Just because you feel like you're vacationing at the end of the world doesn't mean you can't combine that with luxury. Because the Habitas AlUla offers its guests a five-star stay surrounded by sand and rock formations. Sustainability is part of the brand philosophy. Thus one manufactured the Resort in modular building method from exclusively organic materials. Wood and textiles, for example. This construction method is non-invasive. Interventions in nature were therefore not necessary during construction. And if the adults only Resort between the ancient Nabataean rock buildings ever has to go, it can easily be dismantled. It leaves no traces.

Oasis in the desert

The experience begins with the arrival. Because with the booking confirmation you get the special Habitas AlUla playlist. This is intended to get you in the mood for your trip. Guests visiting the 96-room resort are then welcomed at a special welcome ceremony. They receive a bracelet with the brand's typical wooden compass. What follows: two minutes of silence, during which guests commit to the spritiual journey ahead. It continues with an incense ritual.

After check-in, it's best to relax a bit. For example, by the pool, which is set against a spectacular backdrop. Although opened only recently the brand-new AlUla Airport, only about 15 kilometers away, but even there you have to get there first. A little relaxation doesn't hurt. The shortcut to deep relaxation can be found in the spa, during yoga, in the gym, or over a drink in the lounge. Here, you can quickly strike up a conversation with the other guests - and, of course, with the multicultural service team. This is the philosophy of Habitas: in their resorts, they want to create places where community can be experienced.

Guests have to do without TV - but that's easy. After all, all it takes is one look outside and you're in another world. The entire resort is tastefully decorated. Every single room harmoniously fits into the landscape. Warm red tones and the traditional style of the region characterize the design. Carpets, lanterns, clay pots - you get the picture.
