Those who currently want to travel to Barcelona, now have another hotel to choose from: InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, one of the world's first and largest luxury hotel brands, recently announced the opening of the new InterContinental Barcelona. The hotel is located in the heart of the Montjuïc district in the southwest of the city, on a picturesque hill overlooking the port and offering breathtaking views of Barcelona.
Maritime flair and influence of Catalan culture
Each of the 273 rooms at the InterContinental Barcelona is inspired by the Mediterranean and the city's stunning architecture, offering guests spaces of unparalleled sophistication. Following an extensive renovation, guests will find allusions to the richness of Catalan culture, such as the use of natural wood in the interior design, with blue, ochre and neutral tones incorporated into high-quality furniture. In addition to the 273 rooms, the InterContinental Barcelona is also home to a 180-square-metre Presidential Suite and 17 Junior Suites, which offer stunning views of Barcelona and embody the brand's modern luxury philosophy.

Enrique Escofet, General Manager of InterContinental Barcelona, is pleased with the new opening: "InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has been pioneering luxury travel in new destinations and established upscale locations for 75 years. The InterContinental Barcelona is a perfect example of how the brand can transform an existing property to exceed the expectations of the modern luxury traveller."
Experience moments of pleasure in three restaurants
The InterContinental Barcelona represents the best in international and local culinary expertise from Michelin-starred chefs to emerging talent. In the hotel's three restaurants and bars, guests can immerse themselves in local culture and enjoy menus that draw on earthly elements. The main restaurant, Quirat, is headed by Victor Torres, Spain's youngest chef who has already been honored with a Michelin star. He offers his guests a specially created menu with high-quality ingredients from the region that are available seasonally.

The second restaurant, Arrel, was conceived around the concept of roots as a source of vitality of the earth and its products. The menu pays homage to the root as the origin of all the ingredients of earth and uses only seasonal ingredients. Thanks to an open show kitchen, dining here becomes an experience as guests can watch the chefs at work. For breakfast, the Arrel offers hotel guests a buffet, while a daily menu and a small à la carte menu are available for lunch and dinner for guests and locals.
