White Easter: These 7 Ski Resorts Are Still Open

While the spring sun shines its first warm rays, Easter is just around the corner - but at higher altitudes winter is still very much present. Perfect conditions to get on your skis one last time. We show where.

The long weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday is ideal for a mountain getaway. Bright blue skies and cold temperatures at the same time, make for the perfect conditions to make your way down the mountain one last time. And who knows, maybe the long-awaited, warmer spring days are just around the corner after the holidays. 

1. Obertauern

Open until: May 1st

The Obertauern ski area is open until May this year and is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in the Alpine region. With slopes that lie at an altitude of up to 2,300 meters, Obertauern is the ideal choice for a last ski trip. In addition, the infrastructure of lifts and cable cars is designed to extend around the resort. This makes it easy to ski down from all the slopes and always return to the starting point.

2. Ski Arlberg

Open until: April 23rd

The largest contiguous ski area in Austria, Ski Arlberg, invites you to enjoy the slopes in Lech, Zürs, St. Anton and Warth-Schröcken until April 23rd. The region is considered particularly snowy and also family-friendly. More than 300 kilometers of slopes can be discovered here without having to unbuckle your skis.

3. Sölden

Open until: May

Sölden is one of the winter hotspots in Austria, but its season extends well into spring. Due to the high glaciers in the Ötztal, visitors here can look forward to a top range of slopes, as well as perfect snow conditions until the beginning of May. In the area, beginners as well as professional skiers will find their personal favorite area - from wide slopes to sporty descents on the Gaislachkogel, there's something for all levels.

4. Kitzbühel

Open until: April 10th

It is said that skiing was invented in Kitzbühel. Perhaps because the annual Hahnenkamm race takes place here, which is one of the most famous slope competitions in the world. But even winter sports enthusiasts who are not among the world's elite will find plenty of downhill runs around the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Hahnenkamm. 5. Zell am See/Kaprun

Open until: May 29th

High up in the Zell am See-Kaprun ski region, skiing is still in full swing around Easter. Until May 29th, there is unlimited fun on the slopes and a guaranteed white Easter. 6. Zillertal

Open until: on the glacier all year round, Zillertal Arena: April 16th

Surrounded by stately three-thousand-meter peaks, the ski area in the Zillertal presents itself to its guests. The lifts reach up to 3,500 meters above sea level and the glacier ski area is open all year round. In the cold season, as well as well into spring, it is still wonderful to carve down the slopes here. There are four ski areas to choose from. 7. Ischgl-Samnaun

Open until: May 1st

Thanks to its unique landscape, Ischgl is one of the most famous ski resorts in the Alps. The village itself is small - and yet has it has become the gateway to one of the largest and internationally most famous ski areas in Tyrol. The majority of the 239 kilometers of slopes are located at over 2,300 meters, which means that snow is guaranteed until late in the season.
