Since 1993, the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. It's 495 square kilometers in size and covers 4.5 percent of Jamaica's total land area. Covered by lush rainforest, the park is also known as the green lungs of eastern Jamaica. More than 800 plant species thrive here. The largest butterfly in the Western Hemisphere (Papilo homerus) is also native here. From the Hardwar Gap in the Blue Mountains, you can enjoy particularly magnificent views.

Drink the best coffee in the world

Arabica beans are known all over the world. But few people know that the Jamaica Blue Mountain bean counts as even a little bit nobler. It grows at an altitude of about 1,800 meters and thus takes a little longer to mature. This gives it the typical intense flavor. All beans are inspected by hand. This is how the high quality can be guaranteed. So one of the best tips for Jamaica is visiting a coffee plantation.

Follow in the footsteps of James Bond

In fact, not only coffee (and rum!) come from Jamaica. The most famous of all secret agents also has his roots here. The British author Ian Fleming bought a property here after his deployment in the Second World War. He named it Goldeneye and began writing. All twelve of James Bond's original adventures were subsequently written on the island. Fleming hosted numerous illustrious guests on the estate during his lifetime. After his death, it belonged briefly to Bob Marley, before he sold it to the record label founder Chris Blackwell. It was he, in turn, who turned it into a luxurious little hotel resort.

Swimming in the stars

The legendary sandy beaches of Jamaica invite you to spend a few leisurely hours under palm trees during the day. Cool off in the sea and then treat yourself to a cocktail. But also swimming at night is one of the best tips for Jamaica. But not just anywhere: experience the Luminous Lagoon. Because millions of dinoflagellates live here. These are not prehistoric giant lizards, however, but small algae. Thanks to bioluminescence, they sparkle at night and give the surroundings an unreal glow.

Waterfalls & visiting the Ocho Rio

Spread over the entire island, masses of water repeatedly tumble over rocky outcrops. The result is atmospheric waterfalls. And these in turn provide not only cooling, but also Insta-gold. Those who enjoy climbing should visit Dunn's River Falls on the Ocho Rio (White River). It also invites spectacular tubing tours, river walks and raft trips. Not far away are the Konoko Falls and the Turtle River Falls with their step-like cascades. On the other hand, the YS Falls on the south coast attract visitors with natural pools. Here you can also zipline.
