The Best Travel Destinations in October 2024
While autumn is already approaching in many places and you might already think about winter sports, other destinations are offering summer, sun and beach fun in October 2024.

Tuscany, Italy
Climate: 20 °C average temperature, 7 hours of sunshine a day, 8 days of rain a month

Why book: The moderate temperatures in Tuscany are also perfect for enjoying outdoor activities. Travelers can enjoy sightseeing, bike tours and long walks without the summer heat. The olive groves, vines and deciduous trees are ablaze with color. It is also harvest time. The grape harvest (vendemmia) and olive harvest are in full swing. There are therefore tastings, guided tours and festivals where you can enjoy fresh local produce. This also includes truffles. The hotspot for this is San Miniato.

Where to stay: In the middle of the enchanting Tuscan hills, you'll find Castelfalfi, a breathtaking luxury resort. Medieval buildings, beautiful views over 2,700 hectares of countryside and modern wellness facilities are just as much a part of the property as the new fine dining restaurant La Rocca. And, of course, the hotel's own olive groves and vineyards.

Reason to book: In Nepal, October is the best time for trekking tours. The weather is particularly clear, visibility is excellent and there's hardly any rainfall. The country between India and Tibet also attracts visitors with temples, Mount Everest and the medieval city of Bhaktapur. The capital Kathmandu is well worth a visit, as is the Chitwan National Park with its rhinos and royal tigers.

Against a backdrop of red sand and snow-capped peaks in the distance, here you'll find a special retreat

Reason book: During the high season, it's often impossible to find a quiet spot on Santorini. It's a different story when it starts to cool down. As one of the best travel destinations in autumn 2024, the Greek island still scores with pleasant temperatures. Even the sea is still around 22 °C. Fun fact: the patron saint of winegrowers, Agios Averkios, is celebrated on October 22. And the Greeks enjoy this special day with wine tastings, music and small festivals.

Reason to book: Madagascar is one of the best travel destinations in October 2024 because the temperatures are simply fantastic. It's still dry season here. This means you can experience the breathtaking wildlife up close. In addition to the thousands of endemic species, you can also visit the palaces and burial sites of Ambohimanga. The famous baobab avenue makes a wonderful photo opportunity. And if you get too warm, it's worth making a detour to the beach.

Reason to book: Transylvania is covered in forests. One of the most famous is the Făgăraș Forest in the Southern Carpathians. It is known for its dense coniferous, beech and mixed forests. And they naturally turn into a breathtaking natural phenomenon in fall. The relatively mild temperatures are ideal for outdoor activities. And if you fancy sightseeing, you'll love the castles, medieval villages and towns. Not to be forgotten: The Dracula legend, which adds a bit of mystical flair.
