On the Indian subcontinent, pink is considered the color of hospitality. For this reason, Maharajah Ram Sing had the entire city of Jaipur painted pink. The occasion was the visit of the Prince of Wales at the end of the 19th century. To this day, the palaces and buildings of the old city shine in different shades of pink.
