Omega: Sign of the times
Just in time for the Olympic Games in Paris, where Omega is the official timekeeper, the Swiss watch brand has redesigned its Vienna boutique with a VIP room, a spacious lounge and a champagne bar. Santé!

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are currently on everyone's mind – not just in France, but also very prominently in Vienna. Specifically, at the Omega flagship store on Stock-im-Eisen-Platz, just a few steps away from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Life-sized images of gold medal-winning athlete Léon Marchand, French swimmer and world record holder in the 400-meter medley, Gianmarco Tamberi, reigning Olympic champion in the high jump, and Bebe Vio, two-time gold medal winner at the Paralympic Games in fencing, adorn the displays at the freshly-remodeled boutique.

This is the 31st time that the Swiss watch manufacturer has been the official timekeeper of the Games. While 30 stopwatches were sufficient for their debut – in Los Angeles in 1932 – the games in Paris, where every hundredth of a second counts, represents an enormous task: An incredible 350 tons of equipment have been brought to the Seine. 500 specialists are entrusted with timekeeping to ensure that everything runs without a hitch.

Just in time for the spectacle, Omega's Vienna boutique is now also replete in new splendor. At over 400 m2, this flagship store in the elegant Palais Equitable is one of the largest in Europe and extends over two stories. The luxury brand has remained true to its global design concept: Natural wood and cream-colored leather abound, highlighted by bold accents in omega red and gold. The eye-catcher in the entrance area is the glass spiral staircase, fit for any Hollywood star: it leads to the light-flooded upper floor, where, in addition to the sales areas, a lounge and a bar now invite you to linger - and, of course, to drink champagne. Speaking of champagne: another new feature is a separate VIP room that is hidden from view and offers the opportunity to experience the collections completely undisturbed. The selection includes watches from the Constellation, Seamaster, Speedmaster and De Ville lines as well as exclusive timepieces that are only available in flagship stores.

A brand new addition is the sparkling Speedmaster 38: a smaller, more playful sister of the legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional. Each of the eight new models has a bezel set with 52 diamonds, a crown set with a diamond and three diamond-studded sub-dials. The launch party in Milan was also high-profile: Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, "Miss Moneypenny" Naomie Harris, "Saltburn" star Barry Keoghan and "Bridgerton" actor Jonathan Bailey all posed with the new Speedmaster models on their wrists.
Naturally, Omega also produced special timepieces for the Olympic Games in Paris: The new Speedmaster Chronoscope models are held in the official colors of the sporting event: gold, black and white. The caseback is embossed with the words "Paris 2024", the official logo of the Games and the Olympic rings. Just like the games, being there is everything!
