It is a good sign: several hundred hotels will open their doors for the first time in 2022. The tourism industry thus shows how resilient it is - and that the joy of travelling is unbroken. Selecting a few from this plethora of highly anticipated openings is no easy task. But these five new hotel openings in 2022 should definitely be on your bucket list:

WHY BOOK?
The villa on the shores of Lake Como dates back to the 18th century. Built by Count Andrea Lucini Passalacqua, it has already housed personalities such as Napoleon and Winston Churchill. The hotelier family De Santis wants to preserve the heritage of the villa. Thus, secret corridors, centuries-old beams, former stables and greenhouses have been preserved. In addition to 24 stylish suites, guests can expect a lakeside pool, outdoor gym, spa, yoga and farm-to-table cuisine, among other amenities. Passalacqua is the sister hotel of the renowned Grand Hotel Tremezzo. It is part of the Preferred Hotels collection.

The Wall Street Hotel wants to bring a breath of fresh air into the historic walls of the Tontine building. It opened in 1729 as the city's first stock exchange. In its new life as a luxury boutique hotel, it will welcome its guests in 180 spacious rooms and suites from February 2022. It also offers a gourmet restaurant with a starred chef, a stylish bar and a lounge with an outdoor terrace on the roof. While everyone knows Bali, its sister island Sumba, only 50 minutes away by plane, is still rather unknown. Cap Karoso will open here at the end of 2022. It has set itself the goal of leaving as small an ecological footprint as possible. Electricity, for example, comes from solar panels. Plastic packaging is taboo, thoughtful planting ensures that less air conditioning is needed. The hotel is situated on more than ten kilometres of white sandy beach. The Aman New York was supposed to have opened in 2021. But then came the pandemic. The new opening date is scheduled for the first half of 2022. The second urban escape of the renowned luxury hotel brand after Tokyo will be located in the prestigious Crowne Building. It boasts views of Central Park, 83 rooms and suites and 22 Aman Residences.
