20 August 2021
Especially in the high season Mallorca fans look forward to a lot of sun. With maximum temperatures of partly over 35 degrees, however, many holidaymakers are drawn, at least temporarily, to shady spots. Thank goodness the island also offers many beaches and bays with natural shade. When it comes to the most beautiful spots of a holiday destination, locals are known to give the best tips. Mallorca expert fincallorca asked locals for their tips on the most beautiful bays with lots of shade.
Coll de Baix
Near the town of Alcudia, in the north of the island, is the beach Coll de Baix, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Surrounded by green cliffs, visitors will find the 200-metre-long sandy beach a shady insider tip without big tourist crowds. Holidaymakers can reach Coll de Baix by boat or by a 45-minute hike.
Cala Serena
Those who don't want to walk that far can visit Cala Serena. The small beach is located in the middle of the resort of Cala D'Or in the southeast of the island. Trees and palm trees on the surrounding cliffs not only provide shade, but also make the beach an idyllic place. Furthermore, the rocks form small grottos into which visitors can retreat if necessary.
Sa Barca Trencada
Hidden in the middle of an evergreen pine forest is the small cove of Sa Barca Trencada. With public toilets, a children's playground and a diving school, it is particularly attractive for families with children. If you don't want to walk far, you can also reach the beach by taking one of the many excursion boats from Sa Barca Trencada.
Torrent de Pareis
For the more adventurous, head to Torrent de Pareis in a stunning natural setting. The small beach is located in a deep gorge near the village of Sa Calobra. The way there is already an experience and leads through two narrow caves. Apart from a toilet, the beach offers no services and is therefore the perfect place for nature fans.
Cala Llombards
Fjord-like, overgrown cliffs surround the romantic bay of Cala Llombards in the south of the island. The beach itself stretches 130 metres inland. Cala Llombards is a true paradise for snorkelers and anglers, as many colourful schools of fish cavort near the shore. A hike to the top of the right cliff offers a fantastic view along the coast.
