Mr. Pejović, why do you think Croatia is currently experiencing a boom as a vacation destination in all price segments?
Croatia's rise is the result of a fortunate combination of several factors. The country's breathtaking coastline and deep-rooted attachment to the land and its people have always been there, but global travel trends have so far lured tourists to the remotest corners of the world. Now, the tide has turned: They are increasingly looking for authentic, transformative experiences and destinations that promise both safety and thrills. The pandemic, despite its challenges, has also helped people reprioritize and reassess what is truly important. The desire for travel, learning and the simple pleasures of life has been rekindled and Croatia can fulfill these desires. In addition, significant improvements in infrastructure have increased the country's appeal, making it comparable to or even better than established destinations.

You've worked all over the world in the tourism sector - why have you dedicated yourself to your home country, Croatia and Lošinj?
The decision to dedicate myself to Lošinj wasn't an easy one. I often say that my origins aren't connected to the land, but to the Adriatic Sea, embraced by the Mediterranean. This is where my peace lies. Lošinj, a jewel within the Adriatic microcosm, is an untold story that attracts and drives me. It's tempting to reveal this story to the world.
What's the most beautiful place on the island?
In my opinion, it's Čikat Bay on the island of Lošinj that's the most beautiful place on the entire Adriatic.

Your role in the dynamic development of the hospitality industry is to drive growth and innovation and position the island of Lošinj and its hotels in the luxury sector. What strategy will you use to achieve this?
The key is to find out what makes the hotels stand out, refine this and tell the journey authentically. The approach involves constant innovation based on a solid foundation of core values and principles, with responsibility as the cornerstone. This means treating our history and culture responsibly, respecting nature and promoting aesthetics and enjoyment. Lošinj is a mosaic of passionate hospitality enthusiasts, unparalleled natural beauty, a favorable climate and a rich historical heritage. We want to capitalize on these inherent strengths and ensure that the island and its hotels become role models in the field of luxury hospitality.
What does it take to be successful in this industry?
If we go back to the core of our field, which is hospitality, it becomes clear that success is deeply connected to loving people. It's about enjoying the joy of others and creating spaces where that joy can flourish; it's about finding ways to make that environment a place of happiness. Success comes when there's a deep understanding of the product, the processes that bring it to life, and the business model that sustains it.

Why can Lošinj Hotels & Villas lead the luxury sector?
Our properties reflect the splendor of 19th century Viennese aristocratic villas. This historic charm and timeless elegance is complemented by quiet exclusivity, offering guests a retreat. The nature that surrounds our houses, complemented by the crystal-clear sea and almost 300 days of sunshine a year, gives them an almost royal dimension. Located in the heart of Europe, between the rich cultural landscapes of Istria and Dalmatia, Lošinj serves as a bridge between the historic cities of Venice and Dubrovnik, offering both accessibility and seclusion. Despite all the strategic advantages and inherent qualities, we recognize the large dose of luck that has also helped us to become leaders in the luxury sector.
What travel trends do you predict for 2024?
Demographic differences and the focus on sustainability and conscious travel make it difficult to predict global trends for the industry as a whole. Wars have made the world smaller and the pandemic has left its mark. So, safety and other preventative emotions will lead the way.
