Still part of Europe, but geographically already close to Africa, the small island of Malta is an insider's tip for those who still want to be warm in the fall without taking a long-haul flight. The capital, Valletta, breathes millennia of history. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. You can stroll among numerous palaces and churches, admire the harbor and indulge in culinary delights. The Michelin Guide has awarded six restaurants on the island with a coveted star. Among them for example ION - The Harbour by Simon Rogan in Valletta. Set setters should stop by Mdina. Parts of "Game of Thrones" were filmed here. But it's also the city where the beautiful Xara Palace, Relais & Châteaux Hotel enchants its guests with great views and super service.

After the fires this summer, official agencies announced weeks ago that they were looking forward to travelers again. This and the fact that Rhodes is quieter in the fall than during the high season are only two reasons to visit the Greek island. In addition, it is considered one of the sunniest regions in Europe. Here you can relax on the soft sandy beach. Or let the wind carry you over the waves while surfing. The Grand Master's Palace, Rhodes Town, the white village of Lindos and the thermal baths of Kalithea should definitely be on the to-do list during a visit. In the south of the island, the Gennadi Grand Resort is a place that offers different concepts for all kinds of travelers. No matter if you are on vacation with the family or as a couple.

Where once Pablo Picasso saw the light of day, art is particularly important. Numerous museums attract interested people from all over the world to the southern Spanish city. But the city also has a lot to offer outside. It is the capital of the Costa del Sol for a reason. The deep blue sea, its caves and the UNESCO World Heritage Site El Torcal de Antequera with its unique karst landscape are well worth seeing. The nature reserve is a great place for hiking. Some of the limestone formations are several hundred million years old. Since the Ikos Andalusia opened its doors about two years ago, travelers have also had access to extremely luxurious accommodation right by the sea. It's still warm enough in the fall for a dip in the ocean!
