March 20, 2023

Aristides Dallas is one of the most famous architects in Greece. In the valley of Lagkades on the Cyclades island of Tinos, he has now delivered his masterpiece with Pnoēs. And it's not just the first luxury hotel on the island, it's also designed to invite guests to connect with the elements. Earth, wind and water play a major role in the Greek villa's design.

Elementary design

To achieve this sense of connection with wind, earth and water, Dallas relied on a fusion of modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. Stone walls and white surfaces provide an exciting contrast to minimalist steel without competing with it. Besides, airy openings and wooden details are part of the design of the Greek villa. Or to be precise: of the three villas.

Each of them is about 73 square meters. And on top of that, there is an outdoor area almost as big and a private garden of almost 100 square meters. The villa itself scores with two bedrooms, a large living area, a fireplace and a kitchen. The bathrooms look like a home spa. Here Dallas was inspired by Turkish hamams. One of the highlights is the private pool.

Committed to sustainability

As minimalist as the villa is, as lush is its garden. It was designed by Richard Gerritsen. Specializing in permaculture, he transformed the surroundings into a lush area with Mediterranean fruits and vegetables. For example, melons, tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplants grow here. Guests are invited to eat them when they are ripe.

But of course you are not solely dependent on the harvest of the garden. Because punctually for breakfast the breakfast basket, filled with delicacies, is delivered to the villa. The environment is also kept in mind when it comes to amenities and furniture. The former orginiates from a collaboration with the brand Ena Karo. It is committed to the zero waste philosophy. For the production of the furniture local craftsmen are responsible.

Exciting destination

To keep the carbon footprint as low as possible, simply everything you find in the Greek villa comes from the island. From the picnic basket to the decorations. Guests are encouraged to explore the island on electric bikes. The water is filtered on site itself. In addition, the garden is designed to promise the greatest possible biodiversity.

Tinos itself is a kind of insider tip among the Cyclades islands. Because it is much less known than, for example, Mykonos or Santorini. But that promises authentic Greek hospitality, deserted bays and a stay that also allows you to connect with the elements.
