Tradition and innovation

Despite their proximity, there are striking differences in the glass between the vineyards of Cantina Terlan and Cantina Andrian – mainly due to fundamentally different soils. This results in great, distinctive wines, where the distinctiveness can be clearly tasted. On the Terlano side, red porphyry rocks characterize the vineyards, which rise up to 900 meters above sea level. The high mineral content and the barrenness of the soil give the wines an impressive structure and freshness. Natural longevity forms the basis for Cantina Terlan's character: authentic, great, multi-layered wines that are allowed to mature. Their focus has always been on white wine – great Pinot Blancs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs – but, above all, the "Terlaner", a traditional cuvée of the three varieties, which is considered the epitome of its own DNA.

On the other side, the Cantina Andriano's vinatages are characterized by the limestone soils. They enjoy a special microclimate due to the downhill winds of the Gantkofel, which rises almost 2000 meters above sea level. A deep understanding of the interplay between location, soil and climate results in wines with personality: taut, complex and multi-layered, with a cool, elegant style and intense, fruity flavor. Their white wines focus on Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc, which have always produced excellent quality on limestone-dominated sites. Their reds rely on three varieties with a long tradition: Pinot Noir, Merlot and, last but not least, Lagrein.
