Thanks to his job, star violinist David Garrett is a globetrotter. Here today, gone tomorrow - he now plays concerts all over the world. Hence during his career, he's already seen the rooms of one or the other hotel. We chatted with him about his favorite hotels and learned what it takes for David Garrett to book an overnight stay.

"To me, hotels are a big topic, I'm very meticulous about them. Hotels are my home for half of the year, and there are a few things I'm very particular about." One is the location itself, as David Garrett reveals. "If you're in a city where you know exactly you don't have a lot of time, I prefer to have a hotel that's close to something you can walk to." In addition, he says, the perfect hotel must have an extensive gym with good equipment so that the violinist can keep fit while on the road. But almost even more important, he says, are the beds: "A good bed, a good mattress, good pillows, that's the be-all and end-all. You have to sleep well on tour." For example, he says, the beds at Marriott Group hotels or The Residence Maldives Dhigurah, where he last vacationed, are recommended.
