Benagil was once just a small fishing village in the Algarve, but in recent years it has become a real tourist spot. The reason is a special cave, which has always magically attracted visitors. The Algar de Benagil shines not only with the light color of the rock, typical for Portugal, but also with its many natural openings that gently let light shine in, creating a unique picture. The cave, which extends over the water and contains a small hidden beach, can only be reached by boat or via a tricky hiking route. On Instagram, it has long been one of the all-time favorites of travel influencers.

Wherever you look, at Praia da Bordeira you see almost nothing but sand - in all directions. The huge stretch of beach, which is almost reminiscent of a small desert, lies behind a rocky outcrop and is surrounded by the lagoon-like Ribeira da Carrapateira river. Because the waves are particularly high and powerful here, the area is especially popular with surfers. Especially cool: from a large parking lot on the cliff, the beach can be reached via a long wooden walkway. This place is particularly suitable for photos, because the sea in the background swirls finest water vapor into the air where the white spray of the waves splashes in all directions. In addition, from here you have a perfect overview of the eternally wide masses of sand.
Ponta da Piedade

It's no longer a secret that Portugal is blessed with unique rock formations and cliffs. The Algarve offers a particularly beautiful sight with its Ponta de Piedade, a headland that has several small hidden beaches and delights with its unmistakable coastline. Here, the golden-yellow rocks have been shaped by the water and wind, so that several caves and stone arches rise out of the sea. Small bays and lagoons are best reached by boat. A breathtaking view can be seen from the photo points on the rocks, which can be easily reached by car. On the eastern side, a long staircase leads down to the picturesque bay.
Cabo de São Vicente

Ever had a bratwurst or currywurst at the last spot before America? It's located at the most southwestern tip of the European mainland, before the mighty Atlantic separates Europe from America. But the legendary food truck has not settled for nothing on the headland near Cabo de São Vicente in Portugal. On the steep cliffs is a lighthouse, which has long been a port of call for backpackers, van travelers or vacationers. From here you can look in almost all directions to the wild sea and let the cool breeze blow around your ears - you'll be completely speechless by the mighty sight of the rocks.

Not on the mainland, but on the island of Madeira is probably one of the most mystical caves in Portugal. It's said to have been formed 890 years ago during a volcanic eruption in Paul da Serra. Due to the lava flow and different temperatures, the many chambers and tunnels have formed an underground path of about 700 meters that is accessible now. Small turquoise green lakes and the golden yellow rock with its stalactites create a unique picture and are perfect for taking a very special photo.
