The essence of Mykonos

If you look around the hotel you will not fail to notice the unmistakable sense of design that characterizes the entire hotel. Of course, this is no coincidence. Because behind the design hotel on Mykonos stand Alex and Philip Varveris. The two brothers are the sons of Nikos Varveris. And he in turn founded his MODA BAGNO - Interni Store in Athens back in 1974. The two gained their first hospitality experience more than 20 years ago at Interni Restaurant & Bar in Matoyiannia, the capital of Mykonos.

Their attachment to the small Cycladic island is expressed in many ways. This begins with the name. Because THE WILD refers to the former fishing village, which stood here once instead of the hotel. Here lived the most courageous fishermen of the entire island. Their fearlessness and unconventional lifestyle earned them the name the savages. Alex and Philip, who know Mykonos well since childhood days, have revived this bohemian spirit of the former Mykonos in their design hotel.

Iconic location

Planned by architects Sofia and Matina Karavas, together with the owning family, back in 2019 the hotel was based on Greek architecture but also added contemporary elements. High-end furniture, handmade lamps, textiles, and antiques as well as artwork from the family collection complete the interior.

"The hotel is like a living painting and is constantly in a process of change. It'll evolve over time with us as a family, new artworks and antiques will complement the existing design concept, we'll respond to the wishes of our guests and we'll be inspired by our own travels in the design and management," say Alex and Philip Varveris. Guests love the design hotel in Mykonos already. They not only enjoy it for its facilities, but also for its location in the less touristy south of the island.

Highlights on the cliff

It's important to the hosts that their guests also get to know the less explored part of the island. To ensure that everything runs smoothly in this respect, there's an Experience Manager at the hotel. He puts together individual experiences. Whether it's a visit to a local Mykonian farm or a trip to the secluded beaches in Kapari, you'll get help here.

But you can't really blame the guests if they don't even want to leave the hotel. It's simply too beautiful to enjoy the view from the Infinity Pool. It nestles along the cliff over the entire length of the property. Or you can indulge in an open-air hydromassage at the fine THE WILD spa. In culinary terms, the trip to the two restaurants TAVERNA and RAW is worthwhile.

Here only local food is put on the grill. The meat, vegetables, seafood, fish and even the cheese come from the immediate vicinity.
