A city trip in the spring is a great way to get away from it all. A study reveals the best places to go.

Blossoming trees and flowers in the parks, sunshine and pleasant temperatures, cafés with pretty gardens, good food and a great atmosphere: city trips in spring are ideal for getting to know a city from its best side. But choosing the right destination can sometimes be a challenge. After all, almost all of Europe's cities are picturesque. But where can you experience the awakening of nature, eat and drink well, and have a great time? The answer is revealed by a Bounce study.

Among other things, the company surveyed how many restaurants and bars there are per 100,000 inhabitants, how much it rains, what the average temperatures are and how many parks are available per 100,000 people. In addition, they surveyed the affordability of the city. And these are the top 10 best destinations for a European city trip in spring:

10. tallinn, estonia

With a city break score of 6.87, Tallinn lands in tenth place, just ahead of Budapest. Estonia's capital on the Baltic Sea boasts an old town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was also one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2011. With the largest art museum of the Baltic cities, many regular events and inexpensive restaurants, the city secures its place in the top 10. A must-try: the local fish specialty Revaler Killo.

Poland's capital, only the country's second largest city by population, is a major cultural, artistic and scientific center. It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1978. Since 2013, the city has also held the title of UNESCO City of Literature. The medieval townscape in the historic old town is particularly fascinating. In addition, there are a huge number of buildings worth seeing, such as churches and castles. Tip: Simply take the "King's Path". It leads from the monument to the Battle of Tannenberg past numerous sights. By the way, Krakow ranks third among European destinations in terms of affordability.

The city is ranked 8th overall, and travelers with a particular affinity for culture will be delighted with the numerous museums. In addition, there are markets worth seeing and especially a lot of street art. A walk along the canals and the Rembrandtplein shows the city at its best.

Tip: In July, there is an annual summer festival in the city center.

In terms of affordability, it only reaches 14th place, but many activities, restaurants and bars help it to silver.

From simple tapas bars to Michelin-starred restaurants, everything is here. If you need a break from all the sightseeing and shopping, just head to one of the many beaches.
