Bottega il Buco: Foodie Hotspot in Ibiza
The popular New York restaurant recently named a new Head Chef and unveiled some new additions.

What is now a success story began 25 years ago in New York City. Back then, Donna Lennard and Roberto Avalle opened an antique store. At some point, customers stayed for lunch. And became guests. The store became a restaurant that now regularly welcomes guests like Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence. In 2012, Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria followed. Soon after, the success story would continue – overseas, with Bottega Il Buco in Ibiza.

New York and Italy By Way of Ibiza
In 2018, the restaurant opened in the village square of Santa Gertrudis. It quickly became one of the favorite restaurants of locals, and tourists soon followed suit. The secret is the overall gastronomic concept. It takes guests on a journey to the authentic flavors of the Mediterranean. The dishes are simple, but beautifully plated. The ingredients are all of the highest quality and come from local producers as well as from Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Signature dishes include burrata with strawberries, toasted hazelnuts and an herb emulsion; raw scallops with avocado, kumquat, mandarin oranges and jalapeños; and spaghetti nero, served with calamari, oven-roasted tomatoes and pepperoncini.
Fresh wind on the Balearic Islands
Responsible for the continued success of Bottega il Buco is Max Rivera Papic, who was appointed the new Head Chef earlier this year. The culinary talent, originally from Santiago in Chile, studied under Alain Ducasse, among others. He is supported by General Manager Hernan Rodriguez Tabacco and his wife Cecilia Sanchez, the Chef de Cuisine.

This summer also saw the launch of the restaurant's takeout service. Together with the delivery company Ibiza Runners, Bottega now offers ready-made Bottega to-go picnics. These include everything two people need for a delicious picnic in Ibiza: salami, cheese, homemade breads and many other delights. By the way, Roberto Paris is behind the restaurant's excellent wine selection. He has been the mastermind behind the il Buco family wine list for over 20 years.
