Luxury, style and glamour - these are attributes that apply not only to the outfits in the new film "House of Gucci", which will be shown in Austrian cinemas from December 2, but also to the locations where it was shot. The film by Ridley Scott, which focuses on the murder of fashion tsar Maurizio Gucci in 1995, is set in a number of destinations in Italythat are definitely worth a visit: From the fashion capital of Milan to the ski resort of Gressoney-Saint-Jean, which replaces the prestigious St. Moritz in the film, to the beautiful Lake Como, there is plenty to see away from the filming locations.

Gressoney-Saint-Jean

The first setting of the film was a romantic chalet at the foot of Monte Rosa in the Aosta Valley. The place replaced St. Moritz in the film, where the couple Patrizia Reggiani, who is played by Lady Gaga in House of Gucci, and Maurizio Gucci, embodied by Adam Driver, owned four chalets. The ski resort of Gressoney-Saint-Jean is considered one of the quieter ski resorts in the Alps and was therefore a better choice for the shoot than the luxurious resort of St. Moritz. But Gressoney-Saint-Jean is also a great destination for a relaxing break in other respects: whether skiing or cross-country skiing in winter or wonderful hikes through the lush greenery with views of the imposing mountain massifs and the Lyskamm glacier - there is an activity to suit every taste here.

Milan

It is obvious that Milan, as the fashion metropolis par excellence, also plays a major role in the film. On the one hand Milan was the place where the couple got married, on the other hand it was also the place where the marriage came to its fateful end. If you want to follow in the footsteps of the film in Milan, you should definitely visit the fashion district Quadrilatero della Moda, the famous shopping arcade Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the huge Milan Cathedral, all of which served as the setting. The city in Lombardy also has plenty to offer culture vultures, from architectural marvels to Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting 'The Last Supper'.

Lake Como

Although Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci are not known to have ever owned a villa on Lake Como, several opulent villas around Lake Como in northern Lombardy were nevertheless used as a backdrop for the film. One of the properties featured in the film is the beautiful Villa Balbiano on the western shore of the lake, built in the 16th century. We can't blame the film team for including the area around Lake Como in their film either, as the lake with its surrounding mountains is gorgeous. Hollywood stars such as Al Pacino, who also stars in the film, or Leonardo di Caprio, have therefore been drawn to this area for a long time.

Rome

Although Reggiani and Gucci celebrated their wedding in Milan, the location for the wedding scene in the Jewish quarter in Rome was the Church of Santa Maria in Campitelli. But if you travel to Rome, be sure to visit some of the many other churches and cathedrals, such as St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City State, the Basilica of St. Paul, or the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere. Because these are absolutely worth seeing even for non-religious people with their golden decorations, frescoes, statues and domes. The Italian capital also offers countless other sights - from the Colosseum to the Roman Forum and the Bridge of Angels. Italian flair is guaranteed here at every corner!
