Spring and summer are Osaka's busiest seasons and of course the blossoming of the cherry trees is a very special spectacle. But in fall, Osaka also has a lot to offer. When the leaves on the trees turn red and gold, the parks are particularly inviting for a stroll. Between sightseeing, shopping or culinary experiences, it's the perfect opportunity to relax in peace. The mild temperatures of about 21 °C with around 5 hours of sunshine a day and only 7 to 10 days of rain a month are also a big plus.
What to do
Osaka Castle

Completely renovated at the beginning of the 20th century, Tenshu (the main tower) stands gleaming above the entire castle complex. The installation of an elevator has made it easy to visit for young, old and people with disabilities. The country's former center of power looks back on a proud history dating back to the 16th century and is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Japan. Below the tower is the Nishinomaru Garden, where visitors can also find a teahouse. While there's an entrance fee for the garden, the rest of Osaka Castle Park is freely accessible.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

If you do happen to catch a rainy day, you can spend it in one of the largest aquariums in the world. The innovative Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN offers visitors 15 large tanks and areas that simulate different habitats in Japan and the Pacific. It's home to over 30,000 animals and 620 species. You start your journey from the top down: From the light-flooded Japanese forest to coastal areas to the depths of the Pacific. The aquarium is known for presenting the habitats of the animals in a more lifelike and large-scale way than any other. The whale sharks in the Pacific tank are a very special attraction.
Tip: From 17:00, the lights are dimmed and visitors are asked to be quiet. Then night falls in the aquarium and you can admire the underwater world in an artificial silver moonlight.
Universal Studios Japan

If you are traveling to Osaka with children or are simply a Potterhead, Universal Studios Japan is an attraction that you should definitely not miss. Osaka is home to the second and only Harry Potter theme park - after the one in Florida - including Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmead. In addition to the Harry Potter World, the park also has a Waterworld, a Jurassic Park and a Super Nintendo World. So there's plenty to choose from. What's more, you can expect fewer crowds and shorter waiting times in the low season in the fall. The entire park is also smaller and easier to navigate than the one in America.
