The location reopened in 2021 after extensive renovations, with a new name and higher standards to go with it. The Gilbert is privately owned, run by a young and passionate team with a lot of commitment. It's the perfect home base for exceptional living, inspired working and award-winning cuisine. The Gilbert is also considered an open-minded establishment, welcoming guests from all over the world.

The hotel's distinctive style runs through the building, immediately catching the eye with its signature aesthetic. Even before you enter, your gaze is drawn to the elaborate green façade, which wraps around the large windows and ensures an improved microclimate in the surrounding area. Once inside, open, Scandinavian-inspired architecture with an urban jungle twist awaits – a true oasis in the middle of the city. The 57 rooms and suites have a modern vintage look, both cozy and practical.

At "&flora", guests and locals alike can start the day with an extensive gourmet breakfast buffet; around noon, a lovingly prepared (business) lunch with modern, creative cuisine and a mainly vegan-vegetarian slant is served. In the evening, you can round off the day at the bar.

As the green façade and the many plants within the lobby suggest, the Gilbert is all about sustainability. Their culinary delights in particular focus on regional products from Vienna and the surrounding area. For example, the coffee comes from local roaster Süssmund, the herbs are from the hotel's own garden on the roof and Viennese farmers supply the hotel with seasonal vegetables and the finest beef and fish. A special highlight: the honey served at breakfast is collected from the hotel's own hives, which are located in Vienna's 17th district.
