Aircrafts do not only make comfortable travel possible, but also ensure that we reach our destination quickly. To keep the journey as short as possible, we have listed four beautiful places that can be reached in less than three hours by plane from Vienna International Airport.
1. Moscow, Russia
If you fly to the political, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Russia now, you can reach Moscow and its 12.7 million inhabitants in 2 hours and 45 minutes. For a ration of culture, head to the State Tretyakov Gallery or one of the many theatres like the Nikitsky Gate Theatre. This gem features plays by great writers like Pasternak and Chekhov in the original Russian. If you like to associate Russia with vodka, you won't be disappointed at the theatre either. Things get a little wilder at the Moscow Zoo with bats and aligators. The zoo was built as early as the 17th century. After an exciting day, you can recharge your batteries at Grably, a self-service restaurant serving Russian cuisine. The food is fresh and offered at affordable prices.
2. Oslo, Norway
Also fast, namely in 2 hours 10 minutes, you are in Oslo, which is beautiful in every season of the year. In summer, the temperatures reach up to 22 degrees. With public transport such as tram and metro you can reach many destinations. The medieval fortress Akershus is also worth a visit. It was built in the 13th century and has survived nine sieges. The fortress has also served as a prison and mausoleum. Oslo is also home to lifelike bronze and natural stone sculptures, a ski museum with a jumping simulator, a Viking ship museum and an open-air museum with horse-drawn carriage rides and staff dressed in traditional Norwegian costumes. Traditional cuisine with dishes made from moose and reindeer is served at Engebret Café and Gamle Raadhus.
3. Dublin, Ireland
You can experience the magic of Dublin on the east coast of Ireland after a flight time of 2 hours and 40 minutes. It is especially noticeable in the Temple Bar district through the many narrow cobblestone streets. The 123-metre high, silver metal column called Monument of Light is one of the city's most defining sights. You should also see the General Post Office, which served as the headquarters of the Irish freedom fighters in 1916. Even today bullet holes can be found. Ireland has also had to endure the plague, famine and many wars. Today the country is famous for Guinness beer, for which there is also a museum. After a rainy day, which is pretty much every day, the traditional Irish Stew, made from lamb and vegetables, warms you again.
4. tallin, estonia
After a 2 hours and 20 minutes flight you'll be in the capital of Estonia. Until 1990 Estonia belonged to the Soviet Union. Today, however, only the Patarei prison, which got the reputation as the worst prison during the Soviet era, reminds of this period. In the past, guided tours through the prison building were offered, but today you can only see it from the outside. Incredibly, public transport is free for all Tallinn residents. Wifi is also available to residents free of charge. A beautiful view of the country with the cleanest air in the world, according to WHO, is offered by the tower of Olai Church. The climb is draining but the view over the cruise port rewards you enough. When hunger strikes, be sure to visit the Balti Jaama Turg. The market has meat, fish, vegetables and numerous food stalls offering Japanese soup, burgers and wraps.
