New flagship for Swissôtel in Berne
Swissôtel Kursaal Bern opens in the heart of Switzerland
26 February 2021
The Swissôtel Kursaal Bern now complements the Accor premium brand's portfolio. Following the renovation of the former Hotel Allegro, the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern welcomes its guests with 171 newly designed rooms, clever design solutions, a carefully thought-out sustainability concept and authentic Swiss hospitality.#ILocated in the heart of Bern, the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern boasts panoramic views of the Alps and the historic Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site just a five-minute walk from the hotel. Within a ten-minute walk you can reach the Bear Pit, the Rose Garden and the green-blue River Aare, which invites you to cool off in the summer months.
Alpine heritage and a conscious way of life
Architects Marazzi + Paul are responsible for the hotel's conversion. Award-winning interior designer Nina Mair has designed the rooms using natural, sustainable and well-crafted materials that reflect Swissôtel's alpine heritage and a confident, active lifestyle. Two of the brand's signature Vitality Suites are located on the fourth floor, offering guests a tranquil and stylish room experience that puts well-being at the heart of their stay. The Vitality Suites feature a balcony with stunning panoramic views, bespoke furniture and a fitness wall, the Wellbeing Wall, designed exclusively for Swissôtel by NOHRrd. This Wellbeing Wall features simple, self-explanatory equipment and a cyber trainer for mental and physical training. To revitalize body and mind, there are other sports and fitness options at Swissôtel Kursaal Bern - from Vitality Fitness sets in the rooms to the 150-square-meter gym, open around the clock, with the latest equipment and a personal trainer on request.
Culinary delights from the garden to the roof
Gourmets will get their money's worth in the two restaurants, which are headed by star chef Fabian Raffeiner and offer fresh, seasonal cuisine in an inviting ambience. While the Mediterranean restaurant Giardino serves a mix of classic and innovative Italian specialities on the large sun terrace or in the winter garden, the restaurant Yù takes you on a culinary journey through Asia. The hotel's Garden Lounge, with its picturesque fish pond, also invites guests to enjoy cocktails after an active day in the city or after business meetings. In summer, the rooftop terrace welcomes guests with panoramic views of the city and the Alps.
Hybrid events with a panoramic view
Special attention is also paid to professionally organised events in inspiring surroundings. The Kursaal Bern Congress Centre, for example, is the city's largest event venue with 4,805 square metres of meeting and event space for up to 1,500 guests. 28 modern, light-flooded rooms are available for meetings, seminars and banquets. Especially those on the upper floors captivate with their unique view of Bern's old town and the Alps. All events are also offered in hybrid or completely digital versions.
"Life is a journey. Live it well".
"True to our brand promise 'Life is a journey. Live it well.' We want to ensure well-being, energy and joie de vivre for our guests and convince them with authentic Swiss hospitality. I am certain that we will succeed in this with the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern, as the spacious and modern hotel is a destination in its own right with many offerings. Conveniently situated in a wonderful location in one of the most beautiful cities. We are very proud of the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern. With Kongress + Kursaal Bern AG, we have the ideal partner at our side who shares our understanding of quality, efficiency and attentiveness," says Lilian Roten, who as Global Vice President at Accor is responsible for the Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts brand.
With more than 31 hotels in 18 countries, Swissôtel recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The success story began in Switzerland in 1980, before the brand took its alpine vitality out into the world and opened unique properties such as the Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Istanbul and the Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore. With the opening of Swissôtel Bern in the Swiss capital, the brand is returning to its roots. Swissôtel has been part of Accor since 2016.
