Following a reopening of international borders, the Florida Keys & Key West are anticipating a growing interest in independent stays and group travel. As a result, new and upgraded resorts on the island chain offer villas, cottages and suites that allow space for social distancing between families and small groups. The Florida Keys are part of the famous island chain in southern Florida and delight with an average temperature of 25.5°C. Sunbathing on miles of sandy beaches and swimming in the deep blue ocean promise pure relaxation. For the adventurous, there are also numerous outdoor activities, such as guided eco-tours, hikes, as well as diving and snorkeling courses into a coral reef.
Here are some highlights of the new accommodations in the Florida Keys.
The Casitas at Cheeca Lodge
The 214-room oceanfront Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada has acquired an additional 10 private villas to provide guests with ample privacy and the highest level of pampering. The highlight are the suites of the Ocean House, because these are located directly on the Atlantic Ocean and convince with a brilliant panoramic view of the open sea. So nothing stands in the way of a relaxing holiday, with the one or other adventure excursion.
Kimpton Key West
The 219-room Kimpton Key West Collection has opened its fourth Old Town Key West boutique resort. Ella's Cottages on Simonton Street is located on a historic site with buildings that once housed a beauty salon and an arcade, among others. Comprising just 22 guest rooms and cottages, including five suites, the stylish lodging features elegant, summer cane beds and features fresh accents of color.
Ridley House on Caroline Street was built on the site of an estate once owned by a wealthy industrialist and famous naturalist. It combines 18th-century Victorian and Bahamian carpenter architecture and features classic picket fences that create a retreat with low-hanging trees and a sparkling pool. The property's 23 guest rooms are spread across three historic homes with multiple private porches. It is expected to open in the first quarter of 2021 and is an enticing getaway for honeymooners.
