On safari in your own four walls.
22 January 2021
At times like these, wanderlust increases immeasurably. Especially in the winter months, the longing for sun and the escape from the cold is great. To bridge the waiting time until the next trip safely and motivated, ecosafari provider Wilderness Safaris brings all wilderness enthusiasts some African flair into your own home: from a digital safari, personal recipes and live cooking classes from camp chefs to wilderness-inspired yoga poses for a workout at home.
On Safari with Eustace
When people can't travel to Africa, safari guide and wilderness photographer Eustace Matavire brings Africa to the people. From Wilderness Safaris Linkwasha Camp in Zimbabwe, he takes Africa enthusiasts on safari, digitally these days, explaining the wonders of nature. In a series of entertaining and educational video sequences, he provides insight into the family life of lions and their cubs, shows interactions with elephants and provides a special up-close encounter with a rare pangolin. The videos can be found on Wilderness Safaris' social media platforms: Instagram & Facebook.
African recipes from experts
A hearty beef stew, truffle samp and beans or roasted butternut, Premier Camp Chef, Freedom Nxele, regularly shares his favourite recipes on Wilderness Safaris' social media channels, inspiring African cuisine. Chef Tonderai Chipfupi from Mombo Camp in the Okavango Delta also shares his personal guide to making pizzas on Facebook. He is accompanied by Alfred Muswaka, Mombo's sommelier, who gives his recommendations for the perfect combination of pizza and wine. Popular with guests at Bisate Lodge in Rwanda and the ideal accompaniment to any meal is a good cocktail. On their own Wilderness Safaris online blog, the eco-safari operator showcases their favourite Bisate cocktails, which can be created and sampled on your own during a cosy evening at home. Shake, strain and enjoy!
Wellness within your own four walls
Wilderness Safaris has put together fun, wilderness-inspired yoga exercises for those sitting in lockdown at home and craving exercise or a sporty workout. Whether it's the Downward Wild Dog, the Botswana Warrior or the Cape Cobra, the motto is always "make nature your studio".
