SKI HOLIDAY DURING CORONA
Key Facts.
20 December 2020
Especially in winter, Austria exudes a special charm with its fantastic slopes and a fulminant mountain world. Miles of cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs with panoramic views and plenty of opportunities for skiers and snowboarders attract countless holidaymakers every year. Therefore, winter tourism is also considered an important source of income. But how does it look in times of the Corona pandemic? What is allowed and what is not?
Here you will find the most important facts about a skiing holiday.
Skiing is allowed from 24 December
While the ski slopes can already be used again from 24 December 2020, the hotel and restaurant business will remain closed until 6 January for the time being. A ski trip is therefore only possible as part of a day trip. Ski buses will take guests from A to B, but wearing a mouth-nose protection is mandatory. The cable cars are also 85% in operation and can be used by skiers and snowboarders. However, extra care should be taken in gondolas, chairlifts and T-bar lifts. In closed gondolas, there is a capacity restriction of 50 percent and even when queuing, the safety distance must be maintained and a mouth-nose protection must be worn.
How ski and snowboard schools behave
According to the current status, it is possible that a group of skiers or snowboarders consists of a maximum of ten people, including instructors. Guests are registered, rented winter equipment is regularly disinfected and ski and snowboard instructors are to be tested at regular intervals.
Gastronomy and hotel business closed until 18 January 2021
At the moment: inns, pubs, bars and hotels are closed until 18 January. If they open again after that, then you can not assume that après-ski, as in past years, will be possible. There must be sufficient distance between visitors, and the consumption of drinks and food will take place at the seats. Six guests (plus six children) should be able to sit at each table indoors. Outdoors, there should be twelve guests (plus six children).
Flexible cancellation conditions
The numerous hotels and accommodations in Austria's ski resorts are currently offering very flexible cancellation conditions to make the arrival and stay as relaxed as possible for their guests.
