Très Chic: Ruby Hotels Arrive in Marseille
The south of France's coast attracts millions of tourists every year. Now Ruby Hotels have also announced their expansion to Marseille.

The coasts off of Marseille are among the most beautiful in France. Soon Ruby Hotels will also be represented there. The Munich-based hotel group is planning its first Lean Luxury Hotel in the southern French port city. The new hideaway is to be built in the middle of the city center in a former office building - just a few minutes' walk from the coast on the Boulevard des Dames.
The hotel is to have 237 rooms and its own workspace, while the public areas will include a 24/7 bar with a connected rooftop terrace offering beautiful views of the city and the sea. The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2025.

"France has always been at the top of Ruby's target list. We are therefore very pleased to have Marseille as a kick-off. The hotel market there impresses with a strong demand for business and leisure travel alike and offers a lot of potential for our concept," says Julian Mörs, Group Director Development at Ruby.
Ruby is working with BNP Paribas Real Estate on the conversion of the office building. The operator has been reviewing hotel projects with Ruby for several years, most of which involve the conversion of existing buildings with a low carbon footprint, according to Antoine Mabilon, deputy managing director at BNP Real Estate Property Development.
"We are very pleased that everything is going according to plan for the opening of Ruby Marseille, with more projects to follow. Ruby's technical expertise, professionalism and responsiveness, paired with their strength as a tenant and operator make them an ideal partner."
Similar project in Rome

The Ruby Group is currently realizing a similar project in Italy. At the beginning of March 2023, it was announced that a former office building in Rome is also to be converted into a Lean Luxury Hotel with 165 rooms, a café and a rooftop terrace. The building is located in the heart of the Italian capital near the Spanish Steps. The opening is also planned for 2025.
Founded in 2013, the group currently operates hotels in 10 locations, including Vienna, London, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Amsterdam. Further openings in Dublin, Florence, London and Stuttgart are in the pipeline.
