Zebras, gazelles, antelopes, lions, leopards - just to mention some of the major wildlife that can call Masai Mara National Park their home. But a special highlight is the large healthy elephant population. Around 2,500 gray giants live in this Kenyan part of the Serengeti.

If you want to experience the elephants or the Big Five of the African savannah up close and personal without sacrificing luxury and comfort you'll get your money's worth now. This will soon be possible at the new Masai Mara Lodge from JW Marriott. The hotel chain's new project is the first of its kind in Africa.

Glamorous nature experiences
If you had to describe the typical African style, you would probably use the words simple, rustic and cozy. Lots of wood and other natural materials classically meet dignified colors, gaudy accents and soft textiles in the area. To be as unobtrusive as possible, lodges like to blend in with nature so you can watch the colorful wildlife undisturbed without taking up too much of their habitat.

The Masai Mara Lodge also makes use of this design combined with fabric canopies, stone and different shapes. Thanks to its open construction, which is reminiscent of a tent, it offers a far-reaching view in all directions, creating a feeling of freedom and lightness. Only the finest materials were used for the construction, some of which originate from the region and in terms of color are reminiscent of the diversity of the savannah.
Guests stay in the property's 20 luxurious and spacious cabins, each of which has been designed with private bathrooms. While retiring to the private hideaways, guests gather outdoors on the Cultural Deck for communal animal-watching or a late-night drink. The Sarabi Restaurant, the Fig Tree Lounge and the JW Garden serve international culinary delights. In general, the emphasis here is on fresh organic ingredients (some from the hotel's own garden) and a cozy atmosphere.

Masai Mara Reserve
Masai Mara Lodge is located in the middle of the Masai Mara Nature Reserve, which is part of the Serengeti. Here almost endless plains and breathtaking views meet one of the most species-rich animal world. Not without reason Masai Mara is called the "eighth wonder of the world". Anyone who spends a vacation here will take home memories to last a lifetime. Candice D'Cruz, Vice President Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, agrees: "With an abundance of natural beauty and a calming environment, Masai Mara National Park in Kenya is a perfect retreat for body, mind and soul," she explains. It's no wonder the brand settled with its first lodge project here.
