About a year after its opening, a new innovation at the hotel THE SECRET in Sölden, Tyrol, has everybody talking. They've just introduced the first digital concierge in Austria, for which all 44 suites were equipped with an intelligent voice assistant.

On vacation with Alexa

Smart assistants have been a part of many people's everyday lives for years now. As of recently, guests at THE SECRET hotel can request help from "Alexa" as well. Together with the company Speed U Up, a "skill" was developed especially for the hotel. The interactive speakers can thus become a radio, alarm clock, timer, newsreader and weather guide. Guests can also receive information about the town, such as shopping and excursion recommendations.

The digital concierge even takes care of reservations at the hotel's own restaurant LA'LIV and the sky bar THE VUE. You want more? Then you can ask him to book you a massage, order a cab or organize late check-out. If you're interested in James Bond, you can ask the digital concierge about facts about the spy flick Spectre, which filmed nearby. And because sometimes nomen est omen, guests might just learn a secret from the digital concierge...

The future of travel?

At check-in, guests learn how the voice assistant works. And operating is child's play. All inquiries and requests reach the team via a smartphone. They can be processed immediately. "With our extraordinary design and overall concept, which includes the included Open Bar, we stand out from the classic hotel industry," notes General Manager Rene Steinhausen. "The innovative voice assistant fits in perfectly and provides our guests with even more flexibility."

Whether the digital concierge will catch on remains to be seen. In any case, it's incredibly easy to use. In general, the aim is to give guests as much freedom as possible. Nevertheless, they should receive as many hotel services as they wish. For example, guests can choose between a buffet breakfast or meals in the suite. The latter is made possible by the fully equipped kitchen. If desired, the kitchen can be stocked with everything guests need upon arrival.
